ADHERE TO THE MYSTICAL SNAKE OF THE COILED COVENANT SERPENTIS MYSTICUM DE SPIRA LEGIS
Hades Adorned arose in 1998 from the ruins of Godhead, a Dutch band of local fame. After the band recorded their first CD "JHVH Elohim Aemeth", Godhead broke up. Although "JHVH Elohim Aemeth" was never released, the material on the CD, with its Kabbalistic and Egyptian-Hermetic themes, heralded a new dawn for bandleader/composer Milko Bogard. "JHVH Elohim Aemeth" was a menagerie of massive guitar parts, etereal atmospheres and Occult imagery, in other words, the ultimate sound finally gained ! Because this was what Bogard had been looking for; a marriage between Heaven and Hell - the imaginary soundtrack of Milton's "Paradise Lost"-, soaring, sonic masterpieces which reached the most occult dimensions of the collective consciousness and beyond. A dreamlike place where one meets the "dweller on the Threshold". Milko Bogard and drummer Robert Smissaert decided to continue their musical aspirations under the banner of "Hades Adorned". Bogard and Smissaert were joined by Josef K., who'd already provided the Grunts on Godhead"s "JHVH Elohim Aemeth". At the summer-solstice of 1999 Hades Adorned entered the Dutch Harrow Studios to record their first Opus entitled "Crata Repoa". On this CD Hades Adorned is walking along the occult roads of the Ancient Mystery Tradition throughout Invocations and rites. Lyrical-wise the material on "Crata Repoa" is in particular influenced by the magic spells and formulas of the Ancient Egyptian "Book of the Dead" and the ritual invocations of the ancient Orphic Mystery Cult, the so-called "Orphic Hymns". Massive down-tuned guitar parts and a most precise drumming, as well as influences drawn from an incredible infinite list, including the likes of (the inevitable) Black Sabbath, Bauhaus, Aeternus and Giorgy Ligeti, will show that Hades Adorned are there to offer something really varied and inventive. But the real essence of Hades Adorned is hidden in the lyrics and the music, nothing else is worth saying.
